Juventus defender extends contract

Daniele Rugani has signed a contract extension with Juventus that will last until the end of June 2020.

Last season Rugani was a revelation in Empoli’s defence, playing in all 38 league games under the tutelage of current Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri and that prompted the Bianconeri to buy the remainder of his contract from the Azzurri in February 2015.

Although the 21-year-old is struggling to find regular playing time with the Bianconeri this season, the club believe in his potential enough to extend his contract by one more year, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb.com.

In addition to extending Rugani’s deal, the Turin giants have already completed renewals for Leonardo Bonucci, Claudio Marchisio, Alvaro Morata, Gianluigi Buffon and Simone Padoin.

Throughout the current campaign, Rugani has played nine matches in all competitions including just three starts.

He has not been capped for Italy’s senior squad yet but he has been a regular in the Under-21 squad, having won 15 caps so far under Luigi Di Biagio’s leadership.
