Evra capture poses problems for Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah in the left-back position

Utility player Kwadwo Asamoah will have to fight for a position at Juventus next season after the Italian giants purchased Patrice Evra from Manchester United on Monday to compete with the Ghanaian player at the left-back position.

Asamoah was drafted to play in the left-back position for Juventus since arriving from Udinese as a midfielder two seasons ago and his performance in the position has been impressive.

The midfielder, who is blessed technique and skill, has been unhappy playing in that position but has won the hearts of many with his style of play in that position.

But with the arrival of Evra, Asamoah could lose that position as the French star's forte is playing at the left-back while the Ghanaian was only used in that position under Juventus' previous coach Conte.

This could also mean that Juventus are planning to move Asamoah to a more central role in midfield because of his creativity to open up defences for the club which lacks a lot of gifted players.

Experienced defender Evra completed his move to Serie A champions Juventus from Manchester United after extending his long stay at Old Trafford with a new one-year deal in May

The 33-year-old performed a U-turn over his future and opted to head to Italy to fight with Asamoah for a starting place at the Old Lady.

Evra penned a two-year contract with Massimiliano Allegri's men and joins former United team-mates Carlos Tevez and Paul Pogba in Turin.

Juve have paid a fee of £1.6 million for the France international's services, which will be paid in two instalments of £0.8m.

A further £0.3m will be payable should Juve qualify for the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League.

In a statement released via United's official website, Evra said: "After a great deal of thought I have decided the time is right for me to leave Manchester United.

"It is the biggest decision of my career as this club is, and will always remain, in my heart."

Evra made 379 appearances for United after joining from Monaco in January 2006.

He won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup and three League Cups in a trophy-laden spell at Old Trafford.
