Kuala Lumpur: Danish striker Ken Ilso scored twice as Kedah claimed the Malaysia FA Cup title on Saturday thanks to a thrilling 3-2 win over Pahang at the Shah Alam Stadium.

With a capacity crowd watching on, Ilso fired Kedah ahead in the 20th minute when he chested home Syazwan Zainon’s pinpoint cross.

Having seen Pahang’s Franciso Insa sent off shortly after the half-hour mark for a second bookable offence, Baddrol Bakhtiar then pounced to stretch Kedah’s advantage in the final stages of the first half, only to see defender Heo Jae-won’s deflected effort reduce the deficit just moments later.

With Pahang pressing forward in search of an equaliser, Kedah counterattacked to great effect in the 73rd minute, Baddrol on hand yet again to tap home an Ilso cross.

Mohamadou Sumareh gave Pahang a glimmer of hope with a goal in the 79th minute, but it proved to be a mere consolation as Kedah held on to record their fourth FA Cup success.
