Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed his Ghana home debut performance was below par but took consolation from the win against Congo in the Nations Cup qualifier.

The German-born struggled to cope as a right-winger and was hooked by youngster Dominic Adiyiah.

The AC Milan ace blossomed at the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals in the middle of the park but had to be re-assigned with the arrival of lynchpin Michael Essien.

Boateng admitted he failed to meet expectations after self evaluating his first competitive match on Ghanaian soil.

"I didn't play the best game in my life. I was a bit tired, I had a long season but I can promise the next time I come, I will do better," Boateng told GHANAsoccernet.com
