Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has declared himself fit for next week's friendly against Montenegro after playing down an injury he suffered on Wednesday.

The Schalke star is confident he will be fit Saturday's mammoth clash against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Boateng was taken off in the 59th minute of their Champions League match against Real Madrid on Wednesday with what looked like a thigh injury.

This sparked fears that he could miss one of the most anticipated matches in the German football season because of the injury.

But the Ghana international says his substitution during the match against Real Madrid was pre-cautionary.

"I had to be substituted because I felt a sudden twinge in my thigh after taking a shot, but I’m confident that I’ll be able to play against Bayern on Saturday," Kevin-Prince Boateng said.

Boateng's presence means he will be available for the Black Stars when they take on Montenegro in a friendly in Prodigca on Wednesday.

He is part of the 21-man squad named by Kwesi Appiah for the match to prepare his side for the 2014 World Cup.
