Kevin Prince Boateng’s return to form poses puzzle to Black Stars handlers
Ghana international Kevin Prince Boateng

Suspended Ghana international Kevin Prince Boateng scored his third goal since moving to Spain in sides 2-1 loss to Villarreal over the weekend.

The skillful midfielder has not played for the Black Stars since misbehaving during Ghana’s chaotic world Cup campaign in Brazil 2014.

But his form in the La Liga is beginning to kick up and some of the top clubs in Europe are beginning to circle for the skillful yet controversial midfielder.

Three goals in seven games for the Las Palmas means Boateng has already bettered his goal scoring output than his last seasons with Schalke and that of AC Milan.

But his real impact is not in the goals he has scored, the Ghanaian has played with swagger and with a smile on his face that was previously missing.

Recently Boateng granted an interview and revealed he had made mistakes in the past but was determined to correct them now that he was playing in the Spanish top-tier.

“When I was young I made mistakes and wasted a lot of money but I am glad I can correct them now,” Boateng was recently quoted by Las Palmas’s official website

One of the best ways to overcome your weakness is to acknowledge them and fight to overcome them and certainly in the last three months the 29-year-old German born Ghana international has certainly taken a giant step towards rediscovering himself.

There were genuine concerns over his troublesome knee that threatened to cut short his promising career but since moving to Spain there has been little to suggest he cannot continue playing at the highest level for the next five to six years.

Discipline and a strict diet with well timed recovery sessions have allowed Coach Quique Setien to get the best out of the former AC Milan man.

Boateng signed a one year deal but there have been rumors that a two year extension has been placed on the table after what has been an impressive start to his career in Spain.

His international future might be far from certain and perhaps over but certainly Black Stars head Coach Avram Grant will be looking at his weekly performances in the La Liga and scratching his head knowing very well that on his day Boateng is good as any attacking midfielder in the world.
