Jeonju: AFC Champions League 2016 champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have completed a deal for defender Kim Jin-soo from German club Hoffenheim.
The 24-year-old Korea Republic international has been part of the national squad age groups, including the squad for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Kim made his debut in 2012 with Japan’s Albirex Niigata before moving to Europe in 2014 to join Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
Jeonju-born Kim said, “I’m glad to be with a team of Asian champions. I always thought that if I joined the K League, my first choice would be Jeonbuk.
“The main reason is the Jeonbuk fans. I could see how passionate they were even when I was playing for Japan and Germany. I will do my best on the field and hope the fans will support me.”
With Kim and the recently acquired Lee Yong, Jeonbuk manager Choi Kang-hee believes the team will have a more dynamic defence.
“We have big expectations for Kim. And I believe he will meet our expectations,” said Choi
“Now that we have signed aggressive side-backs, Lee Yong and Kim Jin-soo, we can show a very offensive football to our fans.”
