King Faisal have blamed their demotion from the Ghana Premier League on the lengthy suspension of their coach Dorian Marin.

The Romanian trainer was handed a seven-match touchline ban for misconducting himself by pouring water on the face of an opponent’s player during their Premier League match against Hearts of Oak.

The ban saw Marin remain in the stands until the end of season which saw King Faisal relegated on the final day.

The club’s spokesman Akomea Sekyere Boateng believes the lengthy ban played a major role in King Faisal’s demotion from the top flight.

“We made a lot of mistakes during the season and the biggest of them is the appointment of coach Dorian Marin,” he told Power FM.

“He came in at a time when we thought we could do well but things didn’t go well.

“He got suspended for eight games not too long after his appointment and that really hurt the side’s chances.

“Even though he was always in the stands due to his suspension, he was always controlling things and I think it didn’t help us.”
