Ghana coach Maxwell Konadu has admitted that though they managed to secure a vital win over Guinea on Wednesday, they had to sweat for it.
The Black Stars maintained their pole position in Group E of the 2015 AFCON qualifiers with a priceless 3-1 win over the Syli National in Tamale.
Ghana was however made to work for the win as they were pushed all the way by the skillful Guineans.
Asamoah Gyan scored once more again for his country to get things rolling for the Black Stars after 14 minutes, but the spirited Guineans responded with an equalizer 30 minutes later through Yattara Mohammed.
Ghana had to recoil and fire again early in the second half with an expertly taken penalty by Andre Ayew.
But the Guineans will not go down without a fight as they dominated most parts of the second half in pursuit of another equalizer.
Substitute Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu made the win safe with a cool finish in virtually the last kick of the game.
And Maxwell Konadu who is only in interim charge of the team believes his changes – especially when the going got tough – worked for the team in the end.
“It wasn’t an easy game for us today,†he said after the game.
“We started very well but at a point in time we lost the midfield so we had to re-enforce the midfield and I think it paid off.â€
Ghana strengthens its lead at the top of Group E to eight points with Wednesday’s win over Guinea with two games left.
