Cary: Korea Republic, preparing for the Women's Asian Cup 2018, suffered a 6-0 defeat to the United States in a friendly at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina on Sunday.

World No 15 Korea Republic found the top ranked Americans too hot to handle as the Asian side conceded four goals in the first half.

It was Korea Republic's second straight loss to the Americans, who beat the visitors 3-1 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans last Thursday.

The Taeguk Ladies now have a record of two draws and nine losses against the U.S. in their 11 meetings.

Korea Republic, led by head coach Yoon Duk-yeo, found themselves trailing to two goals by Samantha Mewis in the first 20 minutes.

Mewis opened the scoring in the third minute after she headed down an Abby Dahlkemper corner.

In the 20th, Korea Republic goalkeeper Kang Ga-ae punched a cross from Lindsey Horan, but Mewis thundered the rebound home with her right foot.

The Americans scored their third goal in the 35th minute when Christen Press shot home from distance to beat Kang.

Yoon's side could have cut the deficit in the 40th minute when Lee Geum-min had a one-on-one opportunity in the box, but her right-footed effort was denied by U.S. goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris.

The hosts further punished the visitors in first half stoppage time as Julie Ertz's header found the back of the net following a setpiece.

In the 60th minute, Korea Republic conceded a fifth goal when Lynn Williams tapped home a cross from Megan Rapinoe.

Making things worse, Korea Republic lost their goalkeeper Kang five minutes later after she collided with Williams. Kang was later replaced by Kim Min-jeong.

The U.S. saw Carli Lloyd's header hit the post in the 78th, but second-half substitute Allie Long rounded off the scoring six minutes later with her right foot.

The two friendly matches against the U.S. were Korea Republic's tune-ups for the Women's Asian Cup 2018, which also doubles as the qualifying tournament for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2019.
