Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu has hailed the team spirit of his side after they recorded their first away win of the season.

A goal in either half from striker Kofi Nti Boakye and Richard Yeboah earned a 2-1 against Liberty Professionals 2-1 at the Accra Sport stadium on Wednesday night.

The victory ensured Kotoko opened a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Konadu is now relieved and attributed the success to the mental toughness of his team.

"We knew we had to win this game and the players responded positively," the club's ex-striker said in a post match interview.

"We now have to put this victory behind us and look forward to our next game which is a difficult one against Medeama.

"The fans should come to Kumasi in their numbers to motivate and support the players because they need them at this crucial time."

He added: "I am not thinking about Hearts of Oak and not thinking about the winning the league. That’s not my preoccupation at the moment."
