Kotoko coach Konadu to take short coaching course at Sunderland

Published on: 30 December 2011

Asante Kotoko Coach Maxwell Konadu will spend two weeks with the Sunderland technical team during the break for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The trip is part of the partnership deal firmed up by Kotoko’s Executive Chairman Dr. K.K Sarpong and the English Premier outfit represented by CEO Ms. Margaret Bryn on Wednesday.

The exchange program is targeted at helping the 39-year-old ex Ghana international upgrade his coaching qualifications from a UEFA A to a UEFA Pro license with the Sunderland technical staff headed by Martin O’Neil.

Kotoko’s medical and administrative staff will get the opportunity to undertake similar exchange programs as captured in the signed agreement.

Players of the Kumasi-based club will also get the opportunity to sign for the Black Cats once successful during trials – another benefit captured in the agreement.

A propose friendly match between the two sides which according to club insiders are being discussed is however yet to be made public as to whether it will indeed come off.
