Kotoko defender Joseph Ochaya wins CECAFA Cup with Uganda

Asante Kotoko defender Joseph Ochaya was a member of the Uganda squad which beat Kenya 2-1 to win the CECAFA Tusker Cup on Saturday.

The enterprising left-back was named in the starting line-up and played a role in the opener.

Ochaya piled pressure on Anthony Kimani who scored an own goal in the 27th minute after diverting Robert Ssentongo cross into the net.

In the second half, Kenya appeared the better side and kept on knocking on the door till the 87th minute when Edwin Lavasta who had a good game tapped in Paul Were’s by line low cross from the left wing.

As the game appeared headed for a draw, Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito scored the winning goal with the clock ticking 90 minutes.

The former SC Villa and Express FC midfielder headed home Robert Ssentongo’s free kick after Abdallah Juma handed the ball on the edge of the area.

Ochaya is expected back in Ghana this week for Kotoko's next league match against Wa All Stars.
