Kotoko dent Dwarfs unbeaten record to return to the top

Published on: 04 December 2011

Asante Kotoko ended Dwarfs unblemished record with a 1-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium to return to the summit of the table.

Midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei applied a blistering header to Baba Abdul Rahman cross from the left with Dwarfs goalkeeper Adade Foli completely beaten.

The victory keep the Porcupine Warriors at the top of the table after their closest rival Berekum Chelsea dropped point against Bechem after their 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Despite the win for the home side, Dwarfs were no pushovers as they put up a stiff challenge and struck the woodwork in the 48th minute through captain Bismark Asiedu.

The attacker turned in centre back Ohene Brenya and fired to the far post with goalkeeper Soulama Abdulai completely beaten.

Kotoko came close twice in the second-half with Ahmed Toure and Nathaniel Asamoah missing scoring opportunities.

Dwarfs coach Professor J K Mintah walked onto the pitch to protest a decision by referee Modey late in the game but was sent into the stands for his action.

The visitors could not extend their unbeaten run and will remain in fifth place on the league table.
