Asante Kotoko say they are unnecessarily bleeding out scarce resources due to the uncertain start of the Ghana Premier League.
The champions have been in pre-season training for almost two months to put themselves in good shape for another defence of their Premier League crown.
Operations Manager George Kennedy however says the club’s money is being wasted on player salaries and welfare despite no work done due to the delayed start of the league.
The start of the Ghanaian top flight has been put on hold due to litigation waged by relegated King Faisal.
And Kennedy wants a quick resolution of the matter to ensure the club make some returns on huge investments being made in pre-season.
“We took our team through a pre-season camp which cost us GHS 28,000 and yet still we don’t know when the league starts,†he told Metro FM.
“We have been paying salaries to players, accommodating them and seeing to their welfare even though they are yet to work due to the uncertainty surrounding the start of the league.
“The situation has really hurt the club’s financing and it is draining every dime in the kitty.
“I therefore urge authorities to solve this problem for us to start playing the league as soon as possible.â€
