Asante Kotoko’s General Manager Samuel Opoku Nti claims he has information the club’s docked points for using an unqualified player has been restored.
The dethroned Premier League champions were docked six points – three of which was awarded to Hearts of Oak – for fielding Obed Owusu - who is considered to be unqualified by the Ghana FA’s Disciplinary Committee – in a Premier League game.
The points deduction saw Kotoko face a real scare with relegation but managed to win vital games to stay afloat in the just ended season.
Kotoko have however since appealed against the decision of the Disciplinary Committee of which the verdict is yet to be announced.
But the club’s General Manager Opoku Nti claims he has information the appeal launched by the club has been successful.
“I have information that we’ve recovered our points,†he said.
“The Hearts camp have been murmuring since. As far as I am concerned, we have our points back.â€
Kotoko will move up the Ghana Premier League log having finished the season in 6th if their appeal indeed emerged successful.
