Kotoko goalkeeper Soulama gets Burkina Faso call-up

Published on: 02 May 2012

The Burkina Faso FA have written to Asante Kotoko requesting the release of goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama for an international friendly this month.

The Stallions want the agile net minder for the May 16 exhibition match against Benin and next month's 2014 FIFA World Cup double-header qualifiers against Congo and Gabon.

He fell out with former coach Paulo Duarte and that nearly collapsed his international career.

Soulama has been in fine shape for the runaway Ghana Premier League champions in his fifth year at the club.

He has been identified as key to Kotoko's best defensive record of conceding 12 goals in 26 matches.

Soulama was adjudged Ghana's best goalkeeper in the 2007/2008 season.
