Kotoko, Hearts players headline local select squad to face Black Stars in farewell match

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak players dominate a strong local select side to engage the Black Stars in a farewell match ahead of the 2014 World Cup on Friday.

Four players each from Kotoko and Hearts made the 26-man squad that will be coached by Herbert Addo for the exhibition game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The squad was gathered based on the volume of votes garnered by players in an sms texting competition.

Kwabena Edusei, Jordan Opoku, Abeiku Ainooson and Seidu Bancey made the squad from the Ghanaian Premier League champions.

Philemon McCarthy, Ashittey Ollenu, Winful Cobbinah and Nuru Sulley were the players that made it from Hearts of Oak.

Godfred Saka, Emmanuel Akuoko and Seth Opare are from Aduana Stars while trio Lawrence Lartey, Tijani Joshua and Robert Dabuo were invited from AshantiGold.

Ghana Premier League sensation Augstine Okrah also made the squad likewise Jeremiah Akorful and Attamah Laerweh from Tema Youth.

Experienced goalkeeper George Owoo also made the 26-man squad that will be unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday.

The team’s training program and lodging plans will also be announced at the media briefing to take place at the media centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The farewell match which is organized by Primeval Consult offers Ghanaians a chance to see the Black Stars in action before they head out to the Netherlands to intensify their preparations for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
