Asante Kotoko insist they are determined to keep hold of Rahim Ayew whose current deal expires next month.

The 26-year-old’s one-year deal is up in a few weeks but is yet to receive an official offer from the club over an extension.

Ayew’s form has picked up again as he impressed in the Super 2 friendly clash against Hearts of Oak.

The club is under pressure to keep the utility player especially with their impending CAF Champions League campaign.

The club’s spokesman Ali Maradona says the club is poised to keep the Ghana international and adds the club will release in official statement on their position on the player by next week.

“Kotoko relied on certain individuals to bring in Rahim Ayew,” he told Metro FM.

“We are aware his contract is coming to an end but we can assure him that we are taking steps to resolve the issue.

“He is back in good form and therefore will be needed especially for our impending African campaign.

“We are working on it and by next week the club will come out with a position.”
