Officials of Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko plans to play Major League Soccer side DC United in an international club friendly next month are still alive.

The US-based side are yet to finalize a date with their Federation for the match that will be played in Washington.

Kotoko have requested to honour the match between 6-17 October when the Ghana Premier League goes on atwo-week break but DC United are yet to be given the clearance.

"For the past six-seven years, I have been liaising with the club management and I have been going to the States sometimes to watch their matches and I'm nice with the management and this was discussed last year," Kotoko borad member Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh told Ghanasoccernet.com

"I was even trying to take the national team but we were not able to get a date from their FA and now that I'm a board member of Kotoko, I have to push a deal for the club. The plans are far advanced."

Kotoko are one point behind leaders Kessben in second place of the four-week Ghana Premier League.

Asante Kotoko were named Africa's Club of the Century by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics at a ceremony in London last year.
