Asante Kotoko claim they are on the verge of securing an international friendly match against an unnamed Spanish top flight club as part of their pre-season preparations.
The Premier League champions were supposed to have traveled to Spain for a training tour ahead of the commencement of the new football season.
That arrangement however appear to have been botched with coach Mas-Ud Dramani raising an alarm over their packed program ahead of the tentative date set for the start of the Premier League season.
The club have now revealed plans to fly in ‘a reputable Spanish La Liga side’ for a friendly match before their home crowd at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
“The club is also on the verge of signing a deal that will bring a reputable Spanish La Liga side to Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium for an International friendly at a set date,” according to a press statement signed by Kotoko’s General Manager Opoku Nti.
Last season’s double winners want to ensure their team is adequately prepared ahead of their fourth successive defence of their Premier League crown.
They Ghanaian giants also want to improve their form in the CAF Champions League significantly.
