Asante Kotoko midfielder Godfred Asante has arrived in the Czech Republic to begin a two-week trial at Sigma Olomouc, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The ex Heart of Lions player arrived in Czech Republic on Monday and hit the ground running with training with the side having delayed his trip for about two weeks.

Visa problems delayed his departure from Ghana which means that friendly matches arranged to see him in action have already been played.

"Godfred Asante is involved in the pre-season preparation of our team," said Ladislav Minar, sports manager of Sigma Olomouc.

"He had to wait a little longer for a visa, so unfortunately he arrives at a time when Sigma Olomouc have no warm-up match wrong.

"We have some two friendly matches lined up this week against Mohelnici on Wednesday and Saturday against Zlin si so we can see him.

"He is a defensive midfielder, we'll see how he turns out," he said.

The 24-year-old is looking to land a foreign contract having served Kotoko for the past three seasons.

Asante hopes to impress officials of Sigma in order to seal a permanent move from Kotoko.

He will therefore not be part of the Kotoko squad that will be commencing pre-season training on Tuesday in Kumasi on Tuesday.
