Asante Kotoko midfielder Rahim Ayew is calling on the club fans to renew their support for the team despite their disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League.

The Ghanaian champions crashed out of the Champions League in the first preliminary round to Liberian club Barrack Young Controllers.

The early exit has seen support for the Porcupine Warrior drop to perhaps an all-time low as they now refocus on their Premier League defence.

But Rahim Ayew who only joined the club before the second half of the season is begging for the fans to rededicate themselves to the team.

“I urge the fans to put this disappointing result behind them and come and support us,” he told Metro FM.

“It hurts and I feel their pain of our exit [from the Champions League].

“But we have to move on and we cannot do this without the support of the fans.

“We on our part are determined to restore their pride in the club by winning games ahead.”

Kotoko will be in action on Thursday when they take on Medeama in an outstanding Premier League match in Tarkwa.
