Kotoko need a top striker urgently - Paul Asamoah

Asante Kotoko Executive Club 50 Chairman Paul Asamoah has asked the club’s scouts to search for a new striker during the January transfer window.

The attacking options of the Porcupine Warriors have not been overly impressive so far this season with goals spreading more evenly around the team.

Kofi Nti Boakye has proved to be the most reliable source of goals with Ben Acheampong, Nurudeen Ali and Seidu Bancey yet to spark for the defending League champions.

Kotoko will participate in the Caf Champions League next year and the club’s Executive Club 50 chief has told scouts to be on the look-out for potential new attacking options over the coming months to forestall disaster.

“We need a top striker in our team urgently because we have serious deficiencies upfront,” Asamoah said

“I think some of the strikers we have are not up to scratch and the earlier we admit and work towards finding a solution, the better it would be for us.

“We have a strong team but the problem has been the final third where we fail to score the goals.

“I will advise management as a matter of urgency to start looking for a new striker because I believe if we get a potent one, our troubles will be a thing of the past."

The Executive Club 50 is a group of top businessmen who make significant financial contribution to the club.
