Asante Kotoko are trying to ignite another long fight with rivals Hearts of Oak after reportedly threatening to block Ivorian striker Ahmed Toure's pending transfer to the club.

Kotoko are claiming Toure did not completely see through his contract at the club three seasons ago before leaving without their approval.

The striker netted on his debut for Hearts of Oak in the GHALCA Top-four competition and the former African champions are expected to tie him to a contract by next week.

Just in February, Toure expressed his interest to return to Kotoko on a local radio station but officials failed to bring him back from the Ivory Coast where he was training with ASEC Mimosa.

Kotoko can only prevent Hearts of Oak from officially registering the player by justifying their case at the Ghana Football Association's Player Status Committee.

However, they will come to battle with legal bigwigs from the Phobians who have over the years built their reputation at the GFA's legal boardrooms.

The last time the two giants clashed over a player came as far back as 2003 when Hearts hauled the Porcupine Warriors before the GFA's body over wrongly using midfielder Charles Taylor and were forced to pay over $300,000 in compensation to their rivals.
