Kotoko prioritize improved form in Champions League over league retention
Asante Kotoko have won the Ghana League for the past three seasons

Asante Kotoko will be concentrating more on improving their form in the next edition of the CAF Champions League as against retaining their Premier League crown in the coming season.

The Porcupine Warriors have been unable to translate their dominance in the Ghanaian top flight to their continental campaign.

Kotoko have won three successive league titles but have failed within the same period to make it past the qualification stage of the CAF Champions League.

Their ever demanding fans despite their delight of their thorough dominance in the domestic league especially over rivals Hearts of Oak demand better performance from their team in Africa.

The club’s top hierarchy have now resolved to make the CAF Champions League their top most priority at the expense of another title success in the league.

“The target now for Kotoko is to do well in Africa having dominated the Ghana Premier League for the past seasons,” the club’s spokesman Ali Maradona said.

“The expectation of the fans, management and even the owner of the club Otumfour is Africa.

“So our efforts this season will be geared towards improving our performance in Africa and not the Premier League.”
