Kotoko seal Mpong deal from Medeama

Asante Kotoko have completed the signing of midfielder Richard Mpong from Medeama SC, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

The 22-year-old becomes the second big name signing to join the Premier League champions on Monday following the confirmation of defender Rashid Sumaila's acquisition from Ebusua Dwarfs.

"We have just concluded the deal with Richard Mpong and therefore I can gladly disclose that he (Mpong) is now a Kotoko player," the club's spokesman Listowell Yesu Bukarson told MTNFootball.com.

"These signings have come at a huge cost to the club but Dr. Sarpong (Kotoko chairman) is determined to assemble the best possible squad for next season.

"We want to have a solid team which is capable of successfully defending the Premier League title and also able to make a meaningful impact in Africa."

Kotoko's brisk business in the off-season is a clear indication of their intentions for the upcoming season.

Mpong, who made his national team debut for the Black Stars in February against Chile, walked out on deal to join Turkish club Adana Demirspor last month.
