Asante Kotoko will request for the change in venue for their CAF Champions League game against East End Lions over fears of contracting the deadly Ebola virus.

The Ghanaian champions have been drawn against the Sierra Leonean club for their first preliminary tie of the competition which will be played on a home and away basis.

Kotoko are expected to travel to Freetown for the first leg of the tie on the weekend of February 13-15.

Sierra Leone is however one of the countries on the African contingent which his hard hit by the deadly Ebola virus.

The situation has even led to the suspension of the domestic league competition in the West African country.

And Kotoko who are concerned about the health of their players and officials who will be heavily engaged in their African campaign this season says they will seek a change in venue.

‘’We believe CAF will make a follow-up with a change of venue judging from what’s happening to our brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone,’’ Kotoko’s General Manager Opoku Nti said.

‘’CAF did it for Guinea during the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations and we are confident that our situation will follow that pattern.”

The Ghanaian giants hope to progress further to the group phase of this season’s continental championship following last term’s heartbreak against Liberian club Barrack Young Controllers.
