Kotoko suffer shock FA Cup exit to second-tier side Amidaus FC

Runaway Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko were eliminated from the MTN FA Cup after a 2-0 defeat to second-tier side Amidaus FC in the round 16 tie on Saturday.

Kotoko fielded a weakened side a paid dearly for the experimentation done by coach Maxwell Konadu at the Tema Park.

As many as seven players were handed playing times but could not live up to expectations.

Amidaus' self confidence grew minute-by-minute and in the 14th minute, striker Selaise Adjei attempt on goal took a deflection off John Kuffour for the opener.

Kotoko made several unsuccessful attempts to snatch the equalizer.

In the 82nd minute, Amidaus grabbed the match winner when Adjei again stole the ball from Kuffour's foot to beat goalkeeper Isaac Amoako on-on-one confrontation.

Amidaus are now through to the quarter-final of the competition and will face Danbort FC who beat Sporting Mirren 3-0 at the same venue on Friday.
