Kotoko to camp at Sogakope for opener

Asante Kotoko will leave Kumasi today to pitch camp at Sogakope ahead of their league opener against promoted Tema Youth on 9 October.

This is contrary to earlier reports that they would camp at the Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord Academy.

Kotoko will camp there for the return leg of the charity match on 1 October at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The new camping base was proposed by head coach Maxwell Konadu who cut his teeth in coaching at the Red Bull Soccer Academy in Sogakope.

The will play a two training matches before leaving for Tema on 7 October for their first match of the campaign.

A club statement read: "The team of 30 players will include other officials and a journalist with the team.

"Kotoko will engage in a friendly game on Thursday, 29th September 2011 ahead of the 2nd leg of the Charity tie against Accra Hearts of Oak on Saturday, 1st October, 2011.

"After the Hearts game,the team will play another friendly on Wednesday, 5th October, stay in camp till Friday, 7th October and then move to Tema to prepare for the league opener against Tema Youth."

Kotoko's second league match will be against AshantiGold at the Baba Yara Stadium.
