Asante Kotoko will camp in Akosombo

Kotoko will set up their camping base at Akosombo ahead of the resumption of the Ghana Premier League and CAF Champions League participation.

The Porcupine Warriors started training on Monday in Kumasi after the short Christmas break but are expected to move to the Eastern Region to intensify preparations.

The club has opted to leave their home grounds to afford the players the needed concentration ahead of the resumption of their Ghanaian top-tier League and their involvement in the CAF Champions League.

“We resumed for training today and we'll be moving to a camp base outside Kumasi,” assistant coach Michael Osei said.

"Whenever we train in Kumasi there's always a lot of pressure and besides the players don’t get enough time to rest so we need to move to a more serene atmosphere and I think Akosombo offers that.

"We need to put everything in order to excel in Champions League.”

The champions are without eight key players who are on international duty with the Local Black Stars ahead of the start of the 2014 CHAN tournament in South Africa this weekend.
