Ghanaian champions Asante Kotoko came close to securing the return of midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei from DR Congo giants TP Mazembe, according to reports in the Ghanaian media.Ã
However, the deal was hampered by the 26-year-old's huge financial obligations as they sought to bring the midfielder in on a season-long spell.
Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Dramani was looking at the option of beefing up the richness of his midfield for the Porcupine Warriors continental campaign and tried bringing in the 2012 Ghana Premier League Best Player Award Winner.
But Mazembe told Kotoko they will have to pay Nii Adjei's monthly salary of $7,000, an obligation that put Kotoko off the deal.
Adjei, since his move to the Lubumbashi-based side, has not seen regular action and wants to move elsewhere to secure regular playing time.
