Asante Kotoko are desperate to reverse their poor record against Algerian sides in Africa as they come up against MC El Eulma in the CAF Champions League.

The Ghanaian giants are in the second round of qualifiers in the continental contest without kicking a ball after the withdrawal of East End Lions.

Kotoko must now beat Algerian club MC El Eulma to progress further in the competition.

The Porcupine Warriors suffered a massive heartache the last time they faced an Algerian side as they crashed out of the same competition to JSM Bejaia two seasons ago.

Kotoko have historically fared poorly against Algerian clubs in the CAF Champions League.

The current crop are however determined to reverse the script this term as they prepare themselves to battle MC El Eulma.

“Usually Kotoko gets it very tough to get past Algerian opposition in Africa,” Kotoko’s spokesman Kweku Ahenkorah said.

“The list goes on and on but we are aware of this fact and are therefore preparing ourselves adequately to scale this hurdle.

“We know it’s going to be difficult but we are focused and would want to do something positive this time around.”

Kotoko will be on the road in the first leg encounter against MC El Eulma on the weekend of 13-15 March before returning to Kumasi for the return encounter expected in early April.
