Lazy players at Asante Kotoko warned of the sack

Asante Kotoko have issued a stern warning to ‘lazy players’ – insisting any player of the kind will be shown the exit ahead of the new football season.

The Ghanaian giants are still in preparation to mount a defence to their Premier League and FA Cup titles.

Kotoko have brought in at least six players to freshen up their squad while others like Abdul Aziz Yusif, Seidu Bancey and Issa Yakubu have left the club.

Operations manager George Kennedy says the club will not tolerate any mediocrity this season and that all players with a ‘lazy and lackadaisical attitude’ will be sacked.

“Every Kotoko player should be able to play at least 60 percent of games in the coming season,” he told Metro FM.

“Even with that, there should be a justification – say injury or circumstances beyond the control of anyone.

“But then to have lazy, lackadaisical players? No. Any player of such kind will be sacked from the team.”

Kotoko will also be making a return to the next edition of the CAF Champions League by virtue of their domestic league triumph last season.
