Asante Kotoko want all their players - including those who just returned from the CHAN tournament – available for selection when they open their CAF Champions League campaign against Barrack Young Controllers.

The Ghana Premier League champions contributed eight players to the Black Stars team that won silver at the just ended tournament staged in South Africa.

Some of these players like Jordan Opoku, Yahaya Mohammed and Michael Akuffo who were part of the Ghana team at the CHAN tournament are key to the plans of coach Mas-Ud Dramani.

The team returned to Ghana on Monday night after three weeks of rigorous football with some of the players picking knocks.

The team’s return however coincides with the commencement of the second half of the Ghana Premier League while others are set to begin their campaigns in the various African inter club championships.

Some of the Ghanaian clubs have decided to rest their players who returned from the CHAN tournament.

There will however be no such respite for players of Asante Kotoko who begin their campaign in the Champions League on Sunday in Kumasi.

“We expect to have the entire squad ready for the clash but the coach will have the final word on the selection of players,” Kotoko’s Interim administrative head Opoku Nti told GHANAsoccernet.com.

The Porcupine Warriors are looking for a flying start to their Champions League campaign this term after falling at the final qualification hurdle to JSM Bejaia in last season’s contest.
