Asante Kotoko defender Awal Mohammed is nearing full fitness in time for the resumption of the Glo Premier League on 18 May.

The stalwart defender suffered a knock in the side's replayed league match against Heart of Lions at Kpando on 2 May 2.

Kotoko's team doctors have confirmed the former Fetteh Feyernord player will make a return to the pitch earlier than expected.

"The medical team says I can start training in ten days but I am hoping to return earlier to help Kotoko end the league well," the centre-back told the club's newspaper Kotoko Express.

"I went in for a tackle and my opponent in his attempt to jump over the ball stepped on my left foot. I believe it was not deliberate. He apologized to me after that incident."

Mohammed has been a revelation since joining the Porcupine Warriors during the January transfer window with his aerial superiority.
