Ugandan defender Joseph Ochaya says Asante Kotoko's rich history is what attracted him to the the club.

The Ghana Premier League champions announced on Tuesday they have completed the signing of the player from Kampala City Council (KCC).

The left-back can also be used on the left side of midfield.

Ochaya says the club's pedigree and rich history persuaded him to join the Porcupine Warriors.

"I prefer coming to Asante Kotoko because they are a big club and they beat by boyhood club KCC before," he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

"I have been hearing a lot about the club and their history so it motivated me to come here.

"I am ready to come to Kotoko if they call me back. I want to play for Kotoko.

"I am appealing to the fans to be calm because I am bringing something new, my skills from Uganda and hopefully I will make them happy."

Ochaya is a member of Uganda's U20 team who were eliminated from the 2012 African Youth Championship qualifiers by Ghana.
