Asante Kotoko midfielder Rahim Ayew cannot wait to win his first career league title as his club hold the aces to be crowned Ghana Premier League

The first son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele joined the Porcupine Warriors on a free transfer this January after terminating his contract with Belgian side SK Lierse.

The 2009 African Nations Championship (CHAN) star had a slow start but he is on the verge of recapturing the verve that characterized his forays.

His versatility is being exploited by head coach Mas-Ud Dramani who has on few occasions used him as a holding midfielder and a wing-back.

Rahim was impressive in Kotoko’s last two games against Hasaacas and Inter Allies despite the club dropping points in both games.

Kotoko hold a ten-point lead at the top of the table and with four matches to the end season, he can’t wait to pick his medal.

“Wherever you get the chance to play as a footballer, you must try and win trophies because it is the major legacy one can leave behind in our profession,” the 26-year-old told the club’s website.

“Look at Kotoko for instance, those who achieved laurels with the club are always remembered and adored.

“I want to be part of them but for the interim the league trophy is my dream because it will be my first ever.”
