Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah could stay at Juventus as left-back rival Alex Sandro inches closer to a move to Chelsea.

The Brazilian is one of the reasons why the Ghana international handed in a transfer request in the wake of the side's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri preferred the former FC Porto man on the left side of the defence - leaving Asamoah with less playing opportunities.

The Ghanaian made only 18 league appearances with Italian side using a second string deputising in Serie A.

While the Ghana international played 1470 minutes in the top flight, his left-back rival played 2310, scoring three along the way.

With Juventus resigned to losing Alex Sandro to English side Chelsea, Asamoah might also see an opportunity for himself to take on a greater role within this fine Juventus side.

The former Udinese star has been linked with a host of clubs in Europe with West Ham United, Southampton and Trabzonspor among clubs thought to be interested.
