Kwadwo Asamoah: Winning the AFCON bronze medal for Ghana fans

Published on: 09 February 2013

Ghana are playing in the third place play-off of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, having lost at the semi-final stage of the tournament against Burkina Faso. Tonight they take on Mali at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, as they look to end their 2013 Afcon on a high-note. Midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah, who played at left back against Burkina Faso in the absence of the injured John Pantsil, says that they have targeted the bronze medal for their supporters. Asamoah said that they were disappointed with the lose in the semis, although are confident of bouncing back tonight. “This is for our supporters. They have shown great support both here and at home, and they deserve something. "We wanted us to bring them the trophy but it never worked, so this bronze medal will be for them. “We have seen Mali. They are a very good side but tonight we want it more and we will win,” Asamoah concluded.
