Ex-Ghana goalkeeper Abubakari Damba claims Adams Larsen Kwarasey lacks confidence but insists cannot be replaced at the Nations Cup.

The 24-year-old Norwegian born gloves man has been hugely criticized for his poor aerial ability in their opening two games at the tournament.

Kwarasey admitted he made mistakes in the games and was looking forward to working on his physical involvement in matches.

There have been calls for the immediate recall of long standing Richard Kingson into the team to offer stiff competition but Damba believes he will come good.

"Seriously the two games have exposed him as lacking confidence and I believe the goalkeepers trainer especially must work on him,'' the Hearts of Oak goalkeepers’ trainer said.

"He is still young and got potential to succeed at the top level. At the moment the two other goalkeepers cannot match up to him and so we must stick with him.

"We should not unduly criticize him because it can dampen his spirit and that will not be good for us.

"We need to encourage him to check his aerial ability and work on it. That for me is where the problem is and many people identified that in our previous two games."

The Black Stars face Guinea in a must win game at Franceville in the final group D game on Wednesday night.
