Kwarasey ruled out of 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius after recovery delays

Ghana shot stopper Adam Larsen Kwarasey has been ruled out of the 2017 Afcon qualifier with Mauritius next month as he struggles to recover in time for the Black Stars.

Kwarasey, 28, tore a ligament and is expected to be out for Portland Timbers for a further 4-5 weeks.

Kwarasey was originally expected to miss only 4-6 weeks when he tore a ligament in his finger in April, but club officials have confirmed the Timbers shot-stopper could be out until early July.

This means the Ghana shot-stopper will be out much longer than expected.

The news will be a massive blow to Ghana coach Avram Grant who will be without his influential goalkeeper ahead of an international friendly against Guinea on May 28 in France.

However, the former Stromsgodset captain could be available for his country's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda in September.
