Ex Ghana striker Felix Aboagye considers the exclusion of goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey from the Black Stars’ 2015 AFCON squad as a ‘blessing in disguise’.

The 27-year-old continues to be away from the Ghana national team following his public spat against the technical team in the wake of the side’s disappointing showing at the 2014 World Cup.

The Portland Timbers glovesman has refused to make himself available for international selection despite attempts made by the Ghana FA over a perceived rift with goalkeeper’s trainer Nassam Yakubu.

Kwarasey was thus not included in the Black Stars squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations – a decision former player Felix Aboagye has praised.

“I think it is good that he [Kwarasey] is not going [to 2015 AFCON] because it would be good for the cohesion of the team,” he said.

“Because of the events of Brazil 2014 I believe Kwarasey should only return after the Nations Cup.

“There is a new coach and everything so after the tournament they can sit and talk and solve every problem there is.”

Coach Avram Grant will now have to choose between the trio; Razak Braimah, Fatau Dauda and Ernest Sowah who will be his first choice goalkeeper for the Black Stars for the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
