Ghanaian coach Kwesi Appiah claims he has been able to transform Al Khartoum to the satisfaction of the club’s officials within a short period since taking over.

The 55-year-old only took over the Sudanese club in December after he was sacked as coach of the Black Stars in the aftermath of a disappointing campaign at the 2014 World Cup.

Al Khartoum are currently third in the Sudanese top flight eight points behind leaders Al Hilal with three games to the end of the season.

The impressive exploits of Kwesi Appiah has led to moves by officials of the Sudan FA to have him appointed as the head coach of their national team.

The former captain of the Black Stars believes his good work with Al Khartoum is beginning to speak for itself.

“They have been very happy with my work since I took over about eight months ago,” he said.

“I have been able to transform the side’s style of play.

“They were only used to hitting long balls but now are able to string passes together and build up towards goal.

“So I know they are happy with the level of transformation of the team since I arrived.”

Appiah led Ghana’s U23 team to gold at the 2011 All Africa Games in Mozambique before taking over and qualifying the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup.
