Kwesi Appiah wants to win trophies with talented Ghana players

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he is focused on leading the country's  talented crop of players to success at next year’s African cup of Nations.

The Black Stars will play Asia in an international friendly on Wednesday in Xi’an as they step up preparations for September’s Cup of Nations qualifier against lowly-ranked Malawi.

The West African giants are blessed with a cream of talented new generation of players who are desirous to end the country’s 30-year wait for an African crown.

Emerging stars like Frank ‘Messi’ Atsu, Razak Nuhu, Abdul Majeed Waris and Christian Atsu have been thrown into the hat for that ambitious drive.

Coach Appiah says he is thrilled with the quality of emerging players at his disposal and keen to chalk special moments with them.

“I want to make good use of this opportunity to lead these talented players to go forward,” Appiah said at Xian on Tuesday.

“The first is directly linked to the African Nations Cup, the next. The long-term goal is the World Cup semi-final, the last term in South Africa, new breakthroughs,”

“Our goal for the future, so a lot of good players, young players want to have the opportunity, and I will go to examine them.”
