Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi would have been $1million richer if he was corrupt, leading FA member Kofi Manu has angrily reacted to recent corruption claims.
The outspoken and well-versed football administrator says the incumbent FA boss rejected several offers to throw away Ghana’s 2014 final World Cup qualifier against Egypt, as the Ghanaians qualified in style with a historic 7-2 aggregrate win.
In staunch defense of the respected CAF Executive committee member following recent allegations of corruption, the former Aduana Stars chief executive rubbished attempts to smear Nyantakyi with corruption tag and says has lived above reproach in many trying times during his tenure.
The status committee member says the Ghanaian FA leader would have been richer if he was corrupt, parrying attempts to make him unpopular with constant unsubstantiated allegations of corruption.
"Kwesi Nyantakyi had the opportunity to take $1million in Egypt...he refused to take", Manu fumed on Accra-based Asempa FM
"I'm not mincing words, I say Kwesi Nyantakyi had the opportunity to take $1million dollars in Egypt and give away that home match to the Egyptians.
"I won't tell you who wanted to pay but you can also understand.
"Unlike some people who went to Nigeria to take a bribe of $25,000 to throw away a world cup match in favour of Nigeria but Kwesi Nyantaki looked at the national pride and ego of Ghana and refused $1million bribe.
"How many people can refuse $1million dollar"? he quizzed.
A recent 2014 World Cup Commission has been thrown into shreds with many of the findings perceived as targeting the Ghana FA while leaving out the real culprit of the country’s wrecked World Cup campaign.
