It was a wonderful weekend for Athletic Club, with the Basque outfit clinching a crucial victory over a previously unbeaten Sevilla FC side, resulting in no fewer than three of their charges featuring in the Best XI, more than any other club. RC Celta and Real Sociedad are hot on their heels with two apiece, while CD Leganes, Valencia CF, UD Las Palmas and Villarreal CF are all also represented. The Player of the Matchday from the eighth round of LaLiga Santander fixtures is none other than Iago Aspas. The defensive line is made up of Iñigo Lekue (Athletic), Aritz Elustondo (La Real) and Dimitrios Siovas (Leganes). Both Basque clubs are also represented in the middle of the park, with places in the lineup for Mikel Oyarzabal and Mikel Vesga, thanks in part to his winning goal for Jose Angel Ziganda's troops. Tucu Hernandez, Jonathan Viera and Gonçalo Guedes complete the midfield quintet.
Aspas and Cedric Bakambu form a deadly attacking duo, with the pair racking up five goals between them over the weekend. The Spaniard led Celta to their first victory on the road this season and opened his account with a fine hat-trick. The Villarreal striker was the key man in the 2-1 victory at Girona FC, with his brace taking his tally for the campaign up to seven.
