Latest AFC Disciplinary Committee decisions published

Published on: 01 April 2016

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Disciplinary Committee has ordered Al Ittihad (KSA) to play its next home match on the territory of Saudi Arabia in AFC club competitions behind closed doors as a result of fan misbehaviour.

Al Ittihad was found liable for the improper conduct of supporters who threw bottles at the field of play on several occasions, one of them hitting an opponent player, in the club’s fixture against Lokomotiv (UZB) on March 1, 2016. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

As Al Ittihad’s next home match in the AFC Champions League (ACL) 2016 Group Stage will be played on neutral ground (see AFC Media Release 41/2016), the punishment will apply to the club’s next ACL match to be played in Saudi Arabia.

Also at its meeting yesterday, the Committee suspended Al Wehdat (JOR) player Amer Shafi’ for six matches in the AFC Cup for offensive behaviour and insulting gestures at the referee.

Amer Shafi’ was banned for six matches as a result of his behaviour at the AFC Cup Group Stage match Ahed FC (LIB) vs. Al Wehdat. This incorporates the one-match automatic suspension.
