Lee Addy targets third Nations Cup appearance

Posted On Wednesday, 21st November 2012

Lee Addy wants to play at his third Nations Cup

Ghana defender Lee Addy has set an audacious target of playing at his third Nations Cup in South Africa 2013.

The 22-year-old has struggled to command a regular call-up under coach Kwesi Appiah.

The Dalian Aerbin left back played in the 2010 and 2012 edition of the continental showpiece but faces a daunting task to make the cut for next year’s edition .

With in-form Harrison Afful, David Addy and Richard Kissi-Boateng in the frame, the former Red Star  Belgrade star will find it difficult to break into the team.

But the ex-Berekum Chelsea player is refusing to give up hopes of making the 23-man squad.

“I am thinking of the nation cup because we want to live a legacy of ending the 31-year wait for a trophy,” Addy told Radio XYZ

“We want to win, win and win and that is what the players are thinking about.

“It will be a proud moment for me to be part of the team,”

Addy was a late inclusion in the Black Stars squad that beat Cape Verde 1-0 in an international friendly on November 14.

I hope he’s not part of the squad. If AA invite Lee Addy that means is true he’s paying Bribe..Quincy Owusu Abeyie is the one Ghana really need not Lee Addy or Paintsil. These two players are waste.

    Its not happn lee

  3. Ghanaman says:

Lee Addy deserves a spot on the team.

  4. Christo says:

Well done Ghanaman for teaching another ignoramus some sense. It is clear there are many people who make constant noise on this forum are ignorant are unable to analyse things properly. Lee Addy may not be many people’s player. I think because he got into the squad whilst playing in the local league some people who have been insisting the local players are not fit to be in BS have made it a point to hate him. But together with Akaminko they were formed a rock against Cape Verde in the friendly last week. In fact he appears to have improved tremendously so those people who hate should not be too surprised or disappointed if he makes it. It will not be bribery but by his performance.

  5. access says:

@ Ghanamam be civil on your comment my friend.

  6. access says:

Ghana need active players who play for thier respective club every week not warmbechers.Ghana have players to win AFCON2013 but it all depend on the selectins of players.

  7. yaw2 says:

Access your right Lee Addy is not playing competetive football so i dont see him making a cut in the final squad. As john Paintsil and John Mensah their tooo old and they need to pave the way for younger youth .

  8. Christo says:

Access you are right people should be civil in their comments. And I commend you for not resorting to insults to counter those who disagree with you. And again you are right in your view that active players should be invited. But I don’t know if you are aware or not but Lee Addy has been playing regularly since his move to China. Perhaps that explains the improvement in his form. So I hope you will keep an open mind regarding the player.

  9. Dready says:

Lee addy and Derek Boateng are waste.AA should kindly bring on Quincy and maintain the likes of Afriyie Acquah & Isaac Boakye.Kingston should never get close the BS team.He is such an indisciplined and disrespctful player. He did it to CK in hearts and will surely extend that to AA if called up.Laryea is fighting hard at all cost to play BS but i’ll advise him to stop dreaming.A senior player my ass.We have too many midfielders AA does not need him.

  10. Maxwell Johnson says:

Hello no!! That will never happen my friend, there is no place for you in the final 23 man squad for the tourney cuz you’re a WASTE OF SPACE!!!

  11. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

LEE ADDY, DEREK BOATENG, PAINSTIL ARE ALL PAST THEIR EXPIRY DATE FOR GBSTARS. PLS, DONT WATER DOWN THE QUALITY OF THE SQUAD BY INCLUDING THESE 3. THEY DONT DESERVE A GBSTAR JERSEY, IM SORRY

  12. Phrank Kente @ Teshie says:

dont dream cos we are not in the wanderland….and you have no place in the squad ok…..

  13. Christo says:

Thank God it is the Black Stars technical men who will do the picking of the squad and not the living room coaches who think they know what is best for Ghana. I wonder what these guys will do if their favourites are not called but see those who they think are not fit are called. It will be interesting. Watch this space1
