Leeds United fans tear into Caleb Ekuban after poor showing in draw with Bristol City
Caleb Ekuban

Leeds United fans have expressed their disappointments with the performance of Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban during their 2-2 stalemate with Bristol City over the weekend.

The Lily Whites are searching for their first win under new manager Paul Heckingbottom, who replaced Thomas Christiansen fortnight ago.

The Yorkshire club recovered from two goals down to earn a point against the Robins in front of their home fans at the Elland Road.

However, in the aftermath of the game, Leeds United fans vented their frustration with the performance of Caleb Ekuban, who started the match as lone ranger following his return from a long injury layoff.

To say that Ekuban is supposed to be the best striker we've got (miles better than Lassoga if twitter is to be believed) he was pretty terrible today, if other players had the chances he had we'd probably won

Ekuban.... i don't see a proper striker. He’s got pace but no technique and to wild on the ball.

Caleb Ekuban is Leeds Uniteds very own forest gump!

So many poor players in this team. Dallas OKane Ekuban all league one standard. Formation isn’t working at all either

While many criticised his performance and ability, there were those who were able to see the funny side and joked about his finishing.

I'm not sure Ekuban could even score a penalty...

Can anyone confirm if Ekuban has finished any of his dinners recently?

Nevertheless, the 23-year-old is still yet to score in the Championship this season, a fact that has not escaped many Leeds supporters.

Ekuban will NEVER score a league goal.

If ekuban played for 10 years in championship he will never score........ fast but no touch

Having gone some 372 minutes without a league goal, it was arguably unsurprising to see Heckingbottom replace him with Roofe – although some following the match wanted to see the change earlier.

Feel sorry for Lasogga here. Had a lot of the ball but Ekuban just not pulling his weight

Tbf Ekuban is giving us more chances up front but he needs to take his chances. Also Lassoga is as useless as usual. Add nothing to the team for me.

However, there are those in the Leeds camp who remain supportive of the Ghanaian, praising his passion and commitment.

Ekuban works hard but doesn’t look like scoring

Only positives today :

Hernandez - really wanted to make things happen

Lassoga - I couldn't stand the chap a few weeks back but he's put 2 solid performances in a row. His goals per minute ratio is very impressive.

Ekuban - he just needs a goal then he will be flying

Did have some positives today. Pablo, Anita and Forshaw all had very good games. Ekuban was lively (and survived). Lasogga on scoresheet again.

Ekuban doesn't give defenders a rest always on then which is great to see missed that .

Prior to the match, some fans were happy to see him back in the side and when he was taken off, there were also those who thought it was the wrong move.

JamesLUFC@JamesLUFC4

Not sure Dallas was up to standard that game, offered little going forward. Hernandez back to his tricks, lasogga continues his good form, wiedwald a little shaky, good to see ekuban back and roofe looks somewhat more comfortable. Like the look of the new formation

I'd Radebe Leeds@Radebe_Leeds

Good to have Ekuban back. Think he could be a handful for most defences.

Ekuban has worked his arse off it's a joke to take him off for Roofe. It's an even bigger joke to take Dallas off for Sacko. Game over good night. Pathetic

Ryan@LeedsUtdRyan

Lasogga should of gone off not Ekuban..

Twitter Ads info and privacy

They may have since reconsidered that view given that Leeds’ comeback followed his substitution.

Other fans took a more philosophical view of his – and the club’s – situation, almost resigning themselves to their fate.

I don't think Ekuban is technically any good but love that he cares. Lasogga has 0 footballing intelligence
